Criteria to Qualify for an Official All-America Selections Display Garden

An AAS® Display Garden is a public or privately funded garden open to the public that grows AAS® Winner plants (from seed) in an attractive outdoor landscaped setting using horticulturally sound practices which beautify the environment.

The following criteria must be met for a garden to receive an application to become an AAS® Display Garden:

  1. The location must have prepared and amended garden beds for the AAS® Winners.
  2. AAS® Winners are to be displayed in specific AAS®  Winner beds with appropriate signage, ideally in a high-traffic area of the garden.
  3. A greenhouse or access to one is necessary to start seeds and grow on to transplant size. AAS® only provides seeds.
  4. The applicant must be responsible for the Display Garden and the maintenance of the garden. The applicant must be employed by or supervise the gardens that will feature the AAS®  Winners. Master Gardener applicants must have an extension agent or garden employee complete the application and accept responsibility for seed shipments.
  5. Irrigation must be readily available.
  6. Garden space must be allocated to grow and maintain from 25 to 55 varieties.
  7. The garden must be open to the public. The garden may not be located at a private residence.
  8. The gardens are encouraged to promote their AAS®  affiliation by conducting “Open House” or “Field Day” events, educate garden visitors about the AAS®  trialing process and promoting those events to local media.
  9. There should not be another AAS® Display Garden in close proximity to the applicant garden.
  10. The garden must be located in North America.
  11. To remain in the AAS®  Display Garden program, each year the garden will be required to complete a record verification form and submit one digital image of the AAS®  Winner Display in the garden.

Submit to AAS a written accounting of how your garden meets these criteria. Describe your display garden location and features or attractions you consider important. Include garden photographs and any media publicity you have received.
